The Parlor
The Parlor is the repository of Cedarcroft's history. The pictures are family, much of the furniture is family or local, and the books are mostly mid 19th century. Here's some of the items:
- Civil War display - pictures of John A. Adams as a Union soldier, plus a display with an original kepi and reproduction sack coat.
- National Register display - a 1915 article from the "Missouri Ruralist" describing John A. Adams' pioneering soil conservation methods and a complete copy of the National Register nomination papers for Cedarcroft.
- A picture of downtown Warrensburg in 1881.
- A ballroom Victrola with lots of early jazz, country & show music (our honeymooners and anniversary couples get to dance to a selected special tune).
- The guest registration desk is the pulpit from the old New Hope Methodist Church (1884 -1964). The guest register is an old ledger.
- An 1898 (dated) friendship quilt is draped over the Victorian sofa.
- An upright piano, from the turn of the century, all tuned and ready to play!.
- Lots of other interesting furnishings, knick-knacks and books (including 1st twelve volumes of Harper's New Magazine and an 1861 Atlantic Monthly)
