Sandra & Bill Wayne are your hosts at Cedarcroft Farm’s Cottage on the Knoll. They were introduced to the B&B industry while Bill was stationed in the USAF in upstate New York – their first B&B experience was in Groton, when they couldn’t find a decent motel nearby.
They stayed at a number of B&Bs while traveling – Kingston, Ontario; Sydney Mines, Lunenburg and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia; Old Stonington, Connecticut, and San Antonio, Texas. During these visits they decided that creating a B&B would be an ideal use for the 80-acre historic farm they’d bought in 1981,
Sandra grew up in the Northeast section of Kansas City with frequent trips to visit relatives in rural Johnson County, MO. She met Bill while she was attending Central Missouri state University (now University of Central Missouri) working on a degree in English. They quickly discovered that they both love to travel; so after Sandra received her Masters in Public Relations, they married in 1977.
Bill lived in seven cities before starting the 3rd grade, when the family settled down in Lake Charles, LA. He received an appointment to the USAF Academy and graduated in 1965. His military career was mostly spent in the Contracting field, except for 7 years as a Minuteman missileman at Whiteman AFB, just 10 miles from Warrensburg. Prior to meeting Sandra, he served at bases in Louisiana & Turkey; together, they lived in Illinois, Ohio & New York.
Bill’s interests include Civil War reenacting, skeet shooting and politics. Sandra has a love for horses and both like to travel, locally and around the country. Both also enjoy photography and have competed successfully in many local art contests; the Cottage is decorated with some of their work.
